Artist bio

I was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, surrounded by Lake Michigan and the small, but growing, metropolis. Growing up, I was naturally drawn to art, music, and theatre–really any creative outlet I could get involved in. I participated in choir, music lessons, and local theatre. I was encouraged to continue with that passion by my family, as many of them are artists themselves. Art provided an outlet for the emotions I couldn't express with words, and became a form of therapy. I experimented with drawing, painting and photography, taking introductory art classes and photo courses throughout my high school years.

Eventually, I was introduced to digital art my senior year of high school. I used photoshop to redesign album covers for my AP Studio Art portfolio (seen below), which sparked my interest in the endless possibilities of digital art. I became inspired by everything around me, including my peers and their work, and wanted to only spend my time creating. By the end of the year, my art won awards in the Scholastic Art and Writing competition, and was featured in a spread I had designed for my year book. It quickly became one of my favorite mediums, and I wanted to learn more about the programs and tools available.

I am currently in school studying at the University of Colorado-Boulder, with a major in journalism and a double minor in art practices and graphic design. I plan on continuing my exploration and knowledge of art in hopes of contributing my creativity for a print publication.
